Compare the actual selling price
Percentage discounts can be based on a temporary or rarely used reference price. Compare the final price with similar materials and construction, including shipping, duties and return costs for your country.
Watch bundles
Sets that include a bow tie, pocket square and cufflinks can be convenient, but exact matching may limit styling. Evaluate each piece separately. A bundle is not good value when only one component will be worn.
Seasonal clearance
Clearance is useful for classic colours, but highly specific wedding shades or novelty motifs may have limited repeat use. Confirm that sale items remain returnable and that the adjustment range is complete.
International costs
Currency conversion, import tax, brokerage and return postage can change the value of an overseas purchase. Read the seller’s shipping terms before ordering, especially for a time-sensitive event.
Value test
- Would I buy this at a modest discount rather than only at the advertised percentage?
- Does it work with at least two shirts and one jacket I own?
- Are the dimensions suitable?
- Can I return it from my country?
- Is the fabric and construction clearly described?
